Carpet Recycling UK (CRUK) has recently joined other trade associations in the furniture and furnishings sector as the latest member of the British Furniture Confederation (BFC), the consortium organisation which liaises with, and lobbies, government on the industry’s behalf.
Carpet Recycling UK is an independent non-profit membership association working with manufacturers, distributors, contractors, retailers, fitters, reuse organisations and the waste sector to divert carpet and textile flooring waste from landfill. Set up in 2007 by industry leaders, Carpet Recycling UK works to foster strategic collaborations and networks to develop viable solutions to all types of carpet waste.
Said Adnan Zeb-Khan, CRUK’s executive director: “We are pleased to be part of the BFC as the only organisation representing the carpet and textile flooring sector, working alongside other related trade associations getting our member’s views, achievements and challenges heard by ministers and government officials.”
Welcoming CRUK into the BFC, chairman Jonathan Hindle said: “We are delighted to welcome CRUK and Adnan to the BFC executive. We are always open to approaches from other trade associations in the furniture sector who feel they would benefit from working together on issues of common interest which we need to challenge or ask government about. Government policy on sustainability and responsible disposal or recycling of all furniture products is one of the key subjects of ongoing interest and concern to all of us.”
