The Confederation Lunch 2022

ActivityContact Us

Holding a lunch on the terrace of the House of Commons on the hottest day of the year, and with many trains not running, presented its own challenges – but nevertheless we were pleased with the number of ministers, MPs and guests from our trade association member companies, who battled through to attend the first Confederation lunch since before lockdown, organised jointly by the BFC and the Furniture Makers Company. Jonathan Hindle, BFC chairman and Mark Eastwood, MP and chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Furniture Industry Group addressed the guests along with the FMC master Tony Attard and no fewer than two ministers for Small Business and Consumers, Paul Scully (MP for Sutton and Cheam) who held the job from 2020 until early July 2022 and Jane Hunt (MP for Loughborough), who briefly took over from Paul.

We have witnessed quite an upheaval in politics since our gathering and a revolving door of ministerial changes! When the dust settles and we know who is in charge again, we will be getting back to the business of bringing our issues and ask before the right people, as always.
